Mercury is soaring higher and higher.
It's time to give your beloved car a refreshing splash. How about a
hassle-free automatic car wash, or as they say drive-through car wash?
Automatic car wash is more popular than ever and saves a lot of time. It is
also the "safest" course of action by far for keeping car clean
and sparkling.

Now, the question is, why go for an automatic car wash or drive-through car
wash? What's wrong with the conventional do-it-yourself mode of car wash?
In do-it-yourself car cleaning, car owners often make a lot of mistakes.
They either use water miserly, make the car stand in direct sunlight, or use
the wrong type of soap or detergent. Result- damaged outer paint and shine
of the car. The protective wax coat gets totally scrapped off, and there are
chalky, patchy residues all over the finish. Opting for automatic
car wash eliminates all these
problems. Besides, a cleaner and shinier outer surface also increases your
car resale value.
Here are few things that you should consider before taking your car to the
nearest workshop for an automatic car wash:
- While going for an automatic car wash, be sure the car cleaning
technique is "brushless". There are many older drive-through
car washes who still use abrasive brushes instead of cloth for cleaning
cars. This leave small scratches on a car's finish, which is surely not
intended. Another safe option is "touchless" car wash. In this
type of car wash, they only use high-pressure water jets and specially
made car-wash detergents, without making physical touch with the vehicle
at all. Hence, there is no chance of cosmetic damage to your vehicle.
- Keep a watch out for the wipe down after wash. Simply driving away
from the workshop and letting your car dry in air is always much better
than letting car workshop attendants to wipe your car down with dirty
old rags. If there is any remaining water on the car surface, wipe it
off with a clean piece of cloth once you are home.
- A specialized automatic car wash, or a "works" car wash is
another great option. It includes services like undercarriage
rustproofing, spray-on wax, and wheel and tire cleaning. All of them
work great for your car, but at the same time are much costlier as well.
So, skip it, if you think your car doesn't need more than a thorough
wash.
- Finally, make sure you car is okay before you leave the wash. Though
some automatic car washes put up a disclaimer that they are "not
responsible for any damages that may occur" during the car washing
process, but that doesn't mean you should let go the matter if there is
any.
