Auto Expo was inaugurated, visitors thronged the exhibition venue not to
admire the cars and bikes set on display but to leer at a bevy of the young
and beautiful hostesses employed at pavilions and stalls. After about two
decades, scenario has drastically changed and abominable comments and
offensive looks have died out, though not only hostesses but also the beauty
of tinsel Town have made their presence.


Now Auto Expo has set up itself as a citadel of the motoring world and
visitors earnestly wait for Auto Expo in order to make buying decisions from
the galore varieties of cars, bikes and other vehicles on display.
Auto Expo in India's capital New Delhi in many ways is a propitious rostrum
for automobile manufacturers where they reveal their blueprints for ongoing
and future generation cars and bikes publicly. This year it is expected to
see more than two million visitors, flocking to the grand automotive show in
the seven days long event.

industry and put up India as an automobile manufacturing hub by offering
incentives to foreign players for investing and establishing manufacturing
units. Indian Government is also levying penalties in the form of punitive
tariffs on importing cars from overseas, resulting into whooping investment
in the market and expansion of production units.

Some big names of automobile industry expressed their hopes to shift their
base of production as an export hub to India as she is one of the
promisingly emerging market. Experts forecast that the Indian market will
grow her production worth up to $150 billion in 2016 and be in a position to
produce 3 to 4 million units including exports by 2010. This would help
India stand as the fourth largest auto market of the world.
Auto Expo 2010 where a number of cars are kicked off, accompanied by music
and appearance of celebrities, accommodating entertainers all around its
premises. There are stunning exhibitions of many hybrid and electric
vehicles in both the two-wheeler and the four-wheeler segments. And it is
considered to be biggest Indian Auto Fair, allowing national &
international automobile companies like Toyota, Honda, Mercedes-Benz,
General Motor, Volkswagen, Audi, Yahama, and so on to exhibit their
automobile excellence.
The Toyota displayed futuristic car, Etios in the concept of sedan &
hatchback that is to be launched by the end of 2010. Toyota vice chairman
Kazuo Okamoto says, India will contribute significantly to its global
expansion plans and it is high time for us to accelerate our growth here.
Japanese car maker Honda has phased in a compact concept car that is
christened New Small in the week-long Delhi Auto Expo 2010.
Smartly designed, the new concept car casts the futuristic view. The company
is planning to launch this small concept car in India and Thailand in 2011.
This new small car stands out from all other compact cars and is currently
available in the market mainly in terms of its attractive design.
General Motor has launched the Chevrolet Beat at Delhi Auto Expo 2010, on
the other hand indigenous automaker Tata will launch its new model Aria that
has turned the cynosure for the visitors & exhibitors. It is being
termed as a mean version between sedan and SUV. Not to speak of extrinsic
look, even the interior is intriguing.
