Tata Nano – The People's Car is Now 'Indian Car of the Year 2010'

Winning the hearts of millions across India, Tata Nano has also impressed the jury of ICOTY awards. This world's cheapest car has also won the award for 'Indian Car of the Year 2010'. Bagging the prestigious award from 10 finalists, Tata Nano has proved its mettle in the Indian car industry. The award was given to the Mr. P.M. Telang, the Managing Director of Tata Motors, in a ceremony held in Delhi on 20th of December, 2009.

The ICOTY awards (Indian Car of the Year Award) is organized by leading automotive magazines in India in association with JK Tyres. A total of 11 auto experts were a part of the jury that chose Tata Nano for this year 's biggest automotive accolade. The 11 auto experts who comprised the jury were

  • Vardhan Kondvikar (Top Gear India)
  • Bertand D’souza (Overdrive)
  • Sirish Chandran (Overdrive)
  • Srinivas Krishnan (Business Standard Motoring)
  • Bijoy Kumar Y (Business Standard Motoring)
  • Aspi Bhathena (Car India)
  • Yogendra Pratap (Auto Bild India)
  • Vikrant Singh (Auto Bild India)
  • Gautam Sen (Auto India)
  • Bob Rupani (Auto India)
Tata Nano was declared the winner for the 'ICOTY awards 2010' with 63 points. This world's cheapest car from Tata Motors competed against the nine other finalists. The other 9 cars that made their way to the 9 finalists were Skoda Superb, Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Cruze, Fiat Linea, Fiat Grande Punto, Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Ritz, Mahindra Xylo and Tata Indigo Manza.
