Mitsubishi Grandis
The
Multi Utility Vehicle
(MUV) car segment is gaining momentum in India. Hindustan Motors, one of the
largest car manufacturer of the country, is planning to launch the
Mitsubishi Grandis in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors, in India.
Mitsubishi Grandis is a seven seater MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) or MUV
(Multi Utility Vehicle).
The Grandis was conceived to replace
Mitsubishi's earlier MUV cars, i.e. the Chariot, Nimbus and the Space Wagon.
Mitsubishi Grandis was first launched in 2003 and sold in Europe, Japan,
Asia Mexico and some other parts of America. It was even awarded The
Best MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) accolade at the Bangkok International
Motor Show.
Powered by cell technology, the new Grandis takes forward Mitsubishi Fuel
Cell Vehicle initiative. Mitsubishi Grandis is way ahead from its
competitors in terms of comfort and styling. The Grandis is probably the
first multi-utility car that's a seven seater and is yet able to provide
reasonable comfort to passangers, which is often a great challenge for all
manufacturers. Its third row seats can be folded to make the luggage room
more spacious. Also, and amazingly, the seats of the third row can be
reversed and the passangers can even sit facing backwards. So even if seven
people are traveling and the luggage room has been filled up you need not
worry because Grandis has roof-box option for extra baggage.
This multi utility car will be available in both petrol and diesel
variants. The petrol version with 2.4 ltr engine and diesel with 2.0 ltr.
The diesel version has a displacement of 1968cc which generates a power of
134bhp and 31.61kgm torque. This latest Mitsubishi model can accommodate
seven persons and is equipped with 5 manual gear transmission. It is loaded
with a power steering, front disk and rear drum brake systems. To add to the
comfort, it even has armrests with cup holders, safety airbags, climate
control AC and manually adjustable drivers seat. This MUV's interior
designing is excellent and the exterior gives a futuristic sporty look too.
The Grandis is the first MUV which doesn't compromise with style and also
gives a feel of a luxury car. The price of this promising product from
Mitsubishi is expected to be in range of Rs. 15-16 lakhs in Indian market,
however, pricing isn't expected to affect the demand of Grandis, as it is
being perceived as a great value for money car.
