Renault Koleos

Renault is gearing up to capture the Indian market by introducing a full range of small to luxury cars. The next vehicle to be introduced in the Indian market after its solo debut – the Fluence sedan - will be the Koleos crossover Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). Similar in construction to soft-roaders like the Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Captiva, the Renault Koleos is the first 4×4 from Renault. Renault Koleos would also be one of the products to be dished out from the company's Chennai Plant. At the core of its technological prowess is the 2500 cc turbo diesel engine. The powerhouse brings with it a total of 168 bhp at 6000rpm. And if that is not enough, there is maximum torque of 226 Nm at 4400rpm. Kerb weight of Renault Koleos is 1622 kgs while fuel tank capacity is 65 liters. Some features like AC rear vent, ORVM indicator, Xenon Headlamps are absent. The 6-speed manual gearbox has a responsive, sedan-like feel.

Renault Koleos also tops in active and passive safety equipment, as reflected by its bagging the 5-star score in EuroNCAP tests. The safety features include anti-lock braking system, two airbags, active head restraints, engine immobilizer and electronic brake force distribution feature with brake assist but lack few such as traction control and ESP.

Renault Koleos is expected to be a part of the Indian market in the year 2011 at an ex showroom prize of about Rs. 19 lakhs. Renault Koleos is comfortable and easy to drive and boasts of a genuine off-road ability. The interior has enough room to seat 5 people comfortably, and has some attractive finishing as well. All the main controls within the cabin are easy to reach via its ergonomic dashboard.
