
In the year 1994,
REVA Electric Car Company (RECC) was
incorporated in India as a joint venture between The Maini Group, India,
and AEV LLC, California, USA. The joint venture aim to manufacture
environment-friendly and cost-effective electric vehicles. With over 180
employees and 6,000 units, this company in India is located at
Bommasandra Industrial Area, Bangalore.
The vision of the company is to establish a tradition of excellence and
leadership in environment friendly urban transportation by offering the
best value and highest quality electric vehicles for city mobility. RECC
is also based upon the "zero principle" of the Maini Group.
Zero defects, zero time delays, zero inefficiencies and zero pollution.
This is achieved through Zero Wastage and Zero Compromises.
The company introduced REVA on 11th May, 2001 in India and ceremonially
the curtain was raised by the Vice President of India of that time, Shri
Krishnakant. Reva was based on the concept of electric car considering
its eco-friendly and fuel saving characteristics. Reva was India's first
zero polluting Electric Vehicle for city mobility. The success of
commercializing REVA at reasonable cost came out from the assistance it
has received from the Maini Group. The Maini Group also produces battery
operated materials handling equipment and off-road electric vehicles.
The company received ISO-9001:2000 Certification in August 2002 by the
Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The current models of REVA offer a top speed
of 65kmph and a range of 80 Km which is ideally suitable for today's
life mobility.
