REVIEW : HI,
I bought a santro 1 year back and i faced a problem after 1 year. while on
driving the car it stopped in between the road and i was not able to start
it again for a couple of minutes. I got it started after a 2 minutes and i
cotinued my journy. I saw the cars brake and oil indicators iluminating
while i apply my cletch and seems the steering was hard. I stoped the car on
the side of the road and started it again and after that i did't happened. I
was wondering how that came and i informed the cutomer care about my
problem. I expecting their call to fix what ever it is.Also i think the Ac
is not powerfull I feel the cool if the car is moving only on engine state
idle the Ac is very less responsive. also i am experienced a sound on my

time the car was ok,,but now for around 3 or 4 months some noise is coming
in steering column ie, when the vehicle moves in high speed at some rough
road, some abnormal sound is coming in steering column, that sound is
irritating me again & again..I had taken my vehicle to different the
dealers i.e, at Dehradoon, at Rorkee, but no body is getting exactly what
the problem is. Therefore it is my humble request to you to please resolve
this problem as soon as possible otherwise i will take some action regarding
this type of defect in the car.

REVIEW : I am a National Awardee and a proud owner of SANTRO but has
a very bad experience recently. I had given my car for servicing at SAS
HyUNDAI, Kanpur Road, Lucknow. To my surprise I had got my car with a
sticker which used to glow at night while the back lights were on. It looked
decent, though, I had to suffer a lot due to the same. It was an early
evening and I parked the car with the parking light on. To my surprise when
I came back after five minutes I opened my car to see fumes all inside. I
was surprised of what to do. I opened all the doors to fuse the fumes and
parked my car at stand still after waiting for few minutes I started off
again. To my surprise I again sensed the smoke from the back side at the
diggie. I stopped the car in the main centre of the road and opened all my
doors to find nothing again. Finally I called up Mr. Ashok the delivery man
who took my car and handed me back after servicing. Incidentally I had his
no. in my recent call list. He told me that the reason would be the sticker
which was connected to the back light and he directed me to simply snatch
the wire coming out from the sticker. I did so at once but was surprised at
his reply. I requested him to please come the next day to see to it. He did
promise but did not return back. After two days I called up the service
centre to request them for the needful. The two people came on my request
and took out the complete set up including the burnt up wire connected to
the sticker and went away saying it was ok then. They made me sign on the
report of satisfaction. I did so with a request for the compensation of Rs.
2000/- Towards the same. I have been calling up the service centre and every
time I am getting the response that the service manager is not there and he
would call me on my phone to talk to me. I would like to request the company
to please see into the matter and I may be given the say and the right to
Justice by the payout of my compensation further.

every body says "the car is Good" but there is something wrong
with the clutch. I have been driving cars like Swift and the Zen for almost
3 years, but i never faced the clutch problem. Since the day i bought the
new santro, i have been experiencing the clutch problem. The engine
automatically raises with out any acceleration in speeds of 5 to 15kmph . I
think Hyundai should give a good thought and test the cars in their factory
before putting it to sale or conduct classes for efficient driving

REVIEW : Santro is really a stylish car and has great pick-up, but
petrol is expensive preposition these days. The running costs are high. I
will recommend Indica diesel version to everyone in this segment I found
santro exec as ABSOLUTE. Features u get are matchless and not found in the
other variants On April 25, 2007 my two and a half year old Hyundai Santro
Xing (also called as Hyundai Atos and Hyundai Amica in other markets)
suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. On Towing to KUN Hyundai in
Mount road, Chennai (Madras) I was told that the crankshaft has failed and
needs to be replaced. Today I was told that several other parts of the
engine have also failed. Mr.Balaji of KUN Hyundai says that the repairs will
be very expensive (more than Rs.35,000, which is more than 10% of the car's
on-road price) and can return the car only after 10 days. Apparently spares
are not available in Chennai and the engine also needs machining.
My car was purchased in November 2004 (just 2 1/2 years ago), has done only
about 26,000 Kms and has had regular services at authorised service centers
(MPL and KUN), the last one just 2 weeks ago. Crankshaft of my Santro Xing
2004 model is defective. I purchased a Santro xing from Hyundai from a
Kerala dealer of Hyundai India. The product did just 28000 kms and its
crankshaft failed in just less than two years time and shockingly the
company is not acknowledging this fact. I request all Santro Owners who
purchased their cars around November 2004 to check their vehicle. I have
raised the issue with company and am looking forward to their response on
this issue and have not received any response till date.) I am very
surprised that the crankshaft and engine of my car have failed so early. The
car was purchased from MPL Hyundai and since they have shut down it is being
serviced regularly at KUN Hyundai, Chennai; good fuel from popular petrol
bunks is used; it is driven sedatel!
y in the city of Chennai only. 21st century petrol car engines are
designed/ manufactured to last more than 2 lakh kilometers without any major
repair; I am shocked with my bad experience. I bought this car in November
2004 after reading reviews and road tests on the internet, various auto and
car magazines and talking to relatives and friends who had this car. Not one
review or road test in November 2004 or my circle of contacts that had the
Santro had faced such problems. May be the November 2004 batch or this
particular car engine has some manufacturing
Well, this is the first car I have purchased...Though, I do hope to buy a
bigger car one day, I'm satisfied with this car for the time being...I did
quite a lot of research before picking the car...I was in lot of ambiguity
as to which one should I buying...I had a few option though...From Zen to
Wagon R to swift...I was also eyeing the newly launched Aveo, but was
disappointed with the price..Getz is also neat and I think better than
Swift...Well, not many will agree to that, I know...Finally with 3 lakh and
some thousand rupees in my pocket, I decided to go for a Santro...and after
driving it for a few weeks, I know that my decision was not wrong...So here
is the deal, if you want to invest in a car, I mean small car...Go for
Santro XL...Value for money and an awesome performer...This car is reliable
and comes with neat features...No point buying a high end model as you may
afford an Aveo or maybe Esteem...You know a car with a boot...But for a
small car, Santro XL, that's! it...Buy it to feel the experience...Just for
the folks who plan to wait till 2007, here is a scoop...You will see quite a
few models on the road starting next year...This list includes new car from
Maruti, Chevrolet and if sources are to be believed, even Hyundai!!!
Cheers

REVIEW : I bought SANTRO XO,in the month of July 2007.
What i Liked in this car :
- Good car to drive in the city.
- Milage is between 13-15 Km/lt in city and on highway its around 17Km.
- Excellent A/C in the car which impressed me.
- Top speed i reached was 155km/hr.
- Looks good compared with other mid size cars.
Now what is making me not to like Santro :
1. Pathetic service,
a) In My first 'FREE SERVICE' You get your car washed and polished only
nothing else. along with a bill of around Rs500.
b) In My second 'FREE SERVICE' again i got the car washed and polished with
a bill of Rs1250 as oil change cost, however ENGINE OIL WAS NOT CHANGED
ATALL, I ASKED ABT IT AND THE SERVICE ENG SAID IT HAS BEEN CHANGED,
I went back paying Rs1250 for nothing, i reached another Hyundai station
for gen checkup. GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
They say that i should have changed the engine oil becose it is not upto
the mark, and told it will cost me Rs1250 for oil change and oil filers
etc....
I PURCHASED ADDITIONAL WARRNTY FOR THE CAR ALSO...
MEANS ITS OF NO USE AND I HAVE WASTED MONEY FOR SERVICE AND WARRNTY.
2. Noise near the stearing from the day one.
3. Car become warmer very quickly compared to other cars, I mean if you
keep window closed even for 2 min you will feel its very hot inside...
I finish it here saying ' THE CAR IS GOOD, SERVICE IS VERY VERY BAD (
CHEATING ) WHICH INTURN LEADS TO MAJOR PROBLEMS.'....

REVIEW : It my be the best car .. but i had one of the worst kind of
experience one can have with a new car. I bought a new car from Safdarjung
Hyundai, gurgaon, and At 350 Km only ( yes.. the 5th day of new car in
the city of Delhi), It broke down in the middle of a flyover. And i was like
shocked.. what the hell.. And i was told that as i have drove car with
clutch pressed, Its clutch plates is burnt. ( and I wonder if anyone can
drive a car without having clutch partially pressed in a traffic jam). I was
facing the tight gear problem since the beginning but the dealer said they
with check that in first service. Well.. I got my car dragged down the
bridge by the crane. And than. guess hwat .. I had to pay 2000 for the
replacement of Clutch plates. as it was not covered in warranty. It
could have been upto 5000 Rs but after arguments with GM, and VP of
Safdarjang Hyundai, They gave a discount on labor charges.
So guys.. please get your gear and clutch properly check.. as like i was
told.. it may again be a rarest of rare case for you.
And it had one more problem, THe gear will be having lot of vibrations
while you drive.. so if you have a habit of holding the gear while driving,
this is not the right car for you. And also.. you are not allowed to press
clutch even while driving at a speed of 5-10 knph in a traffic jam

for the rich who can manage well with petrol and costly services and spares.
But for middle and service class people Wagon R is the best coz it has
legendary backing of Maruti ...who is ruling Indian roads for more than 25
years. Yes santro has an edge for looks which wagon R misses it looks like
box on wheels but can u compromise great japanese engine features for just
the looks of a korean frog.

I own a 2006 Santro XL that has done 3500KMs (an infant new by car
standards!). We have already seen too many reviews that said good things
about the engine, the drivability, the rear space and the a/c (that's what
drove me to buy a Santro in the first place. So am gonna get directly to
what I found was bad about the Santro.
First, the so-called 'power' steering. Hey Hyundai! What were you thinking
when you advertised a car with a power steering, huh? The power steering of
every other car performs a million times better than a Santro's! Alto,
WagonR, Indica, Palio, Zen, Sumo, Scorpio.. and am not even getting into the
sedan or the luxury segments! And the unfortunate thing for me is that my
steering is sooo much tighter than the other Santro's I've driven. I told
this a dozen times to the service folks at Hyundai, but they just nod their
heads and return my car in the very same condition I left it in.
This brings me to yet another bane of buying a Hyundai, the Service! Not
only are the cost of spares and service of Hyundai astronomical, but their
services at the service centers are absolutely dull! I was surprised at the
aggressive sales pitch of Hyundai's marketing, but the service is just the
opposite. It's as if they don't even care what happens once the car is
bought. All they bother is about competing for the free services, and if any
paid service comes their way. The door rattles.. the gear shift is too
tight, and the power steering absolutely doesn't work. I keep hearing funny
sounds from the engine.. all this in less than a year of purchase (I haven't
even completed my 3rd free service yet!). But the issue is far serious than
the faults I describe. I guess any car can develop issues in harsh Chennai
conditions.. But my frustration is because NO ONE at Hyundai cares or does
anything about the condition of my car!!! And one service engg. at DSC
Service station we nt to the extent of telling me that THIS is how a Santro
is!!??!!??!! And the proof that they don't care a damn about you or your
car??
My experience at the 2nd free service. I was to take delivery of my car at
2PM. But since I didn't have any better thing to do (it was a Sunday) I
dropped in at 1PM. No person was there in the lobby, so I made my way into
the service bay, where I found my car. And guess what? Two service guys were
sound asleep with my car's engine running and the A/C on!! When I took it up
to the supervisor, he turned the issue around and said that I didn't have
any business in the service bay, and I was to stay at the customer's lounge.
(Now you know why customers are not allowed into the service bay!)
All said and done, the Santro is a good car to drive if you have the money
to do your service at a private car mechanics, or the know how to don every
sort of a service yourself. Just don't expect any sort of help from your
'friendly' neighborhood Hyundai service centers!

REVIEW : I bought a santro xing,XO, 3 months ago after careful study
and feedback from friends. I found the car great to drive around in the city
but not quite so in the highways, where it is not as steady as for instance
matiz. I am disappointed with its city mileage of 10. In the 2nd gear, the
car is a bit lethargic.

REVIEW : I got my Santro XO last June 06.
Positive Points :
Good A/C. Comfortable for 5 adults. Highway Milege 15.5 Kmpl. City Milege
12.2 Kmpl. Best car in this segment for City drive. Good Service persons.
Negative Points :
I got a problem in sterling-column in the first month but it was replaced
under warranty. Noise comes from driver seats and next seats, very often.
Noise comes from Dash board (Engine Belt) during rainy season.

REVIEW : I bought a eRLX - XO this June 06. The car is good. It
gives 15.3 Kmpl on highways and 12 Kmpl inside city with A/C. You get a
noise on the dashboard sometimes due to engine belt, which is a concern but
your dealers take care of it. My suggestion is SANTRO than others.

REVIEW : I have purchased the Xo Model of Santro in last month which
is my first car. I am very much satisfied with the CAR especially with the
sitting comfort and its style, no doubt getting the average of around 14 Km
in city and 17Km/ltr on long drive..

REVIEW : I have purchased Santro XL ,Maroon Red March 29th from
MUKESH HYUNDAI,KOLKATA,WEST BENGAL after a long research of 3 months.I guess
its the best among its rivals.Regarding mileage initially I use to get
13.7km/lt but after that it exactly gave me 14.5km/lt.last measure I clocked
a mileage of 17.7Km/lt.Though I drove 30% on highway,but still its a damn
good mileage.Regarding the dealer they will encourage you to go for the
Teflon and anti rust coating.I did the same.but inspite of TEFLON coating I
have not got the shiny metalic look Maroon Red.Also I got a hair scratch on
the top.So any new buyer should check this out.
