REVIEW : I guess Santro stands to be the best of breed in its
category. I bought this machine almost 2 years back after lots of
thought & research. My car has done 26000+ kms & I am proud to
have taken the right decision. The mileage (15+), top speed (130+),
stability on highways & city driving comfort makes it a real value
for money.

REVIEW : I bought SANTRO XO,in the month of July 2007.
What i Liked in this car :
- Good car to drive in the city.
- Milage is between 13-15 Km/lt in city and on highway its around
17Km.
- Excellent A/C in the car which impressed me.
- Top speed i reached was 155km/hr.
- Looks good compared with other mid size cars.
Now what is making me not to like Santro :
1. Pathetic service,
a) In My first 'FREE SERVICE' You get your car washed and polished only
nothing else. along with a bill of around Rs500.
b) In My second 'FREE SERVICE' again i got the car washed and polished
with a bill of Rs1250 as oil change cost, however ENGINE OIL WAS NOT
CHANGED ATALL, I ASKED ABT IT AND THE SERVICE ENG SAID IT HAS BEEN
CHANGED,
I went back paying Rs1250 for nothing, i reached another Hyundai station
for gen checkup. GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
They say that i should have changed the engine oil becose it is not upto
the mark, and told it will cost me Rs1250 for oil change and oil filers
etc....
I PURCHASED ADDITIONAL WARRNTY FOR THE CAR ALSO...
MEANS ITS OF NO USE AND I HAVE WASTED MONEY FOR SERVICE AND WARRNTY.
2. Noise near the stearing from the day one.
3. Car become warmer very quickly compared to other cars, I mean if you
keep window closed even for 2 min you will feel its very hot inside...
I finish it here saying ' THE CAR IS GOOD, SERVICE IS VERY VERY BAD (
CHEATING ) WHICH INTURN LEADS TO MAJOR PROBLEMS.'....

REVIEW : I bought a santro xing XL in Dec 2003.It was fine for
the first 2 yrs.But after 2yrs the clutch started giving trouble and I
had to change the clutch plate. As usual thier excuse was that I was
driving in half clutch. But Iam a person who doesn't have such a habit at
all.
Now from last month the when I start the car it cranks but the engine
doesn't start. It doesn't happen always.I took it to the service centre
twice. They cannot pinpoint the problem. As a gamble they r telling that
they will change the EC wire[Iam not sure whether iam correct]which is
going to cost more than 8500 RS.Even then they r not sure whether the
problem will be rectified.Iam fedup

REVIEW : It my be the best car .. but i had one of the worst
kind of experience one can have with a new car. I bought a new car from
Safdarjung Hyundai, gurgaon, and At 350 Km only ( yes.. the 5th
day of new car in the city of Delhi), It broke down in the middle of a
flyover. And i was like shocked.. what the hell.. And i was told that as
i have drove car with clutch pressed, Its clutch plates is burnt. ( and
I wonder if anyone can drive a car without having clutch partially
pressed in a traffic jam). I was facing the tight gear problem since the
beginning but the dealer said they with check that in first service.
Well.. I got my car dragged down the bridge by the crane. And than.
guess hwat .. I had to pay 2000 for the replacement of Clutch plates. as
it was not covered in warranty. It could have been upto 5000 Rs
but after arguments with GM, and VP of Safdarjang Hyundai, They gave a
discount on labor charges.
So guys.. please get your gear and clutch properly check.. as like i
was told.. it may again be a rarest of rare case for you.
And it had one more problem, THe gear will be having lot of vibrations
while you drive.. so if you have a habit of holding the gear while
driving, this is not the right car for you. And also.. you are not
allowed to press clutch even while driving at a speed of 5-10 knph in a
traffic jam

REVIEW : My Hyundai Santro engine failed in August 2007 after
just 18,000 kilometers and 3 years. Kothari Hyundai, Pune says that the
crankshaft and various engine parts have broken down eventhough there
was no problem with the engine oil or coolant the car was purchased in
Mumbai in July 2004; Hyundai service center says that the repairs will
cost more than 30,000 rupees (about 10% of the cost of a new car). I am
shocked. After Sales Service is pathatic. Machine parts have very poor
quality. Overall not satisfied.

Upto 10000 Kms, it had no problems and after that the car started giving
me real trouble. The suspension has become weak, and the mileage is only
9 kms/litre in city . First i had a good mileage of about 13km/lit.when
i complained at the service centre regarding it, they answered that,
that was the mileage of santro xing.

REVIEW : My statement about hyundai santro is that it is a good
car for the rich who can manage well with petrol and costly services and
spares. But for middle and service class people Wagon R is the best coz
it has legendary backing of Maruti ...who is ruling Indian roads for
more than 25 years. Yes santro has an edge for looks which wagon R
misses it looks like box on wheels but can u compromise great japanese
engine features for just the looks of a korean frog.

REVIEW : My Hyundai Santro engine failed in April 2007 after
just 26,000 kilometers and 2 1/2 years. KUN Hyundai, Chennai says that
the crankshaft and various engine parts have broken down eventhough
there was no problem with the engine oil or coolant the car was
purchased in Chennai (Madras) in November 2004; unimaginable that a 21st
century petrol engine can fail so early. KUN Hyundai says that the

new car). I am shocked.

REVIEW : On April 25, 2007 my two and a half year old Hyundai
Santro Xing (also called as Hyundai Atos and Hyundai Amica in other
markets) suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. On towing to KUN
Hyundai in Mount road, Chennai (Madras) I was told that the crankshaft
has failed and needs to be replaced. Today I was told that several other
parts of the engine have also failed.Mr.Balaji of KUN Hyundai says that
the repairs will be very expensive (more than Rs.35,000, which is more
than 10% of the car's on-road price) and can return the car only after
10 days. Apparently spares are not available in Chennai and the engine
also needs machining.
My car was purchased in November 2004 (just 2 1/2 years ago), has done
only about 26,000 Kms and has had regular services at authorised service
centers (MPL and KUN), the last one just 2 weeks ago. Crankshaft of my
Santro Xing 2004 model is defective. I purchased a Santro xing from
Hyundai from a Kerala dealer of Hyundai India. The product did just
28000 kms and its crankshaft failed in just less than two years time and
shockingly the company is not acknowledging this fact. I request all
Santro Owners who purchased their cars around November 2004 to check
their vehicle. I have raised the issue with company and am looking
forward to their response on this issue and have not received any
response till date.) I am very surprised that the crankshaft and engine
of my car have failed so early. The car was purchased from MPL Hyundai
and since they have shut down it is being serviced regularly at KUN
Hyundai, Chennai; good fuel from popular petrol bunks is used; it is
driven sedately in the city of Chennai only. 21st century petrol car
engines are designed/ manufactured to last more than 2 lakh kilometers
without any major repair; I am shocked with my bad experience. I bought
this car in November 2004 after reading reviews and road tests on the
internet, various auto and car magazines and talking to relatives and
friends who had this car. Not one review or road test in November 2004
or my circle of contacts who had the Santro had faced such problems. May
be the November 2004 batch or this particular car engine has some
manufacturing

REVIEW : I bought Santro XO during March 31st 2006. I already
have IKON 1.6 ZXI and Matiz. I replaced Matiz with SANTRO. Initially i
was not comfortable with SANTRO performance comparing to Matiz, but
performance wise very far better than MATIZ. I raised the Santro Speed
to 155KM/Hr on the Chennai-Blore Highway for 6 KM stretch and felt very
sturdy. Really wounderful car to drive (Value for Money) I get 12
KM/litre in the city and 18-19 KM/litre on Highway driving.

REVIEW : No sunshine anymore! :-( This is a young car owner from
Chennai, South India, who is just not satisfied by the way his car
performs. I own a 2006 Santro XL that has done 3500KMs (an infant new by
car standards!). We have already seen too many reviews that said good
things about the engine, the drivability, the rear space and the a/c
(that's what drove me to buy a Santro in the first place. So am gonna
get directly to what I found was bad about the Santro.
First, the so-called 'power' steering. Hey Hyundai! What were you
thinking when you advertised a car with a power steering, huh? The power
steering of every other car performs a million times better than a
Santro's! Alto, WagonR, Indica, Palio, Zen, Sumo, Scorpio.. and am not
even getting into the sedan or the luxury segments! And the unfortunate
thing for me is that my steering is sooo much tighter than the other
Santro's I've driven. I told this a dozen times to the service folks at
Hyundai, but they just nod their heads and return my car in the very
same condition I left it in.
This brings me to yet another bane of buying a Hyundai, the Service!
Not only are the cost of spares and service of Hyundai astronomical, but
their services at the service centers are absolutely dull! I was
surprised at the aggressive sales pitch of Hyundai's marketing, but the
service is just the opposite. It's as if they don't even care what
happens once the car is bought. All they bother is about competing for
the free services, and if any paid service comes their way. The door
rattles.. the gear shift is too tight, and the power steering absolutely
doesn't work. I keep hearing funny sounds from the engine.. all this in
less than a year of purchase (I haven't even completed my 3rd free
service yet!). But the issue is far serious than the faults I describe.
I guess any car can develop issues in harsh Chennai conditions.. But my
frustration is because NO ONE at Hyundai cares or does anything about
the condition of my car!!! And one service engg. at DSC Service station
we nt to the extent of telling me that THIS is how a Santro is!!??!!??!!
And the proof that they don't care a damn about you or your car??
My experience at the 2nd free service. I was to take delivery of my car
at 2PM. But since I didn't have any better thing to do (it was a Sunday)
I dropped in at 1PM. No person was there in the lobby, so I made my way
into the service bay, where I found my car. And guess what? Two service
guys were sound asleep with my car's engine running and the A/C on!!
When I took it up to the supervisor, he turned the issue around and said
that I didn't have any business in the service bay, and I was to stay at
the customer's lounge. (Now you know why customers are not allowed into
the service bay!)
All said and done, the Santro is a good car to drive if you have the
money to do your service at a private car mechanics, or the know how to
don every sort of a service yourself. Just don't expect any sort of help
from your 'friendly' neighborhood Hyundai service centers!

study and feedback from friends. I found the car great to drive around

Positive Points :
Good A/C. Comfortable for 5 adults. Highway Milege 15.5 Kmpl. City
Milege 12.2 Kmpl. Best car in this segment for City drive. Good Service
persons.
Negative Points :
I got a problem in sterling-column in the first month but it was
replaced under warranty. Noise comes from driver seats and next seats,
very often. Noise comes from Dash board (Engine Belt) during rainy
season.

but your dealers take care of it. My suggestion is SANTRO than others.

REVIEW : I have purchased Santro XL ,Maroon Red March 29th from
MUKESH HYUNDAI,KOLKATA,WEST BENGAL after a long research of 3 months.I
guess its the best among its rivals.Regarding mileage initially I use to
get 13.7km/lt but after that it exactly gave me 14.5km/lt.last measure I
clocked a mileage of 17.7Km/lt.Though I drove 30% on highway,but still
its a damn good mileage.Regarding the dealer they will encourage you to
go for the Teflon and anti rust coating.I did the same.but inspite of
TEFLON coating I have not got the shiny metalic look Maroon Red.Also I
got a hair scratch on the top.So any new buyer should check this out.
