Scooters India Limited was established in the year 1972, as a public sector enterprise by the Indian Government, by importing old plant machinery from a defunct automobile company in Italy. It started commercial production of scooters under the brand name of Vijai Super and Lambretta in 1975. The former was meant for domestic market whereas the latter was produced for the overseas market.

After few years, the company increased its product range and started to manufacture a gamut of three wheeler scooters, under the brand name of Vikram or Lambro. In 1997 company stopped the production of two wheeler and concentrated only on the manufacturing of three wheelers.

Scooters India Limited is the only organistion to bring the revolution in the automobile field by designing and developing an Electric Maestro – Vikram EV. It has stylish and bold masculine bodyline that allows spacious interior having ample space for entire family.

Based in Lucknow, Scooters India Limited successfully caters to the various needs of the customers through its own marketing network of Regional Sales Offices all over India. The company is facing stiff competition from other private players but still it is fairing well especially in Northern India and running in profit. Its well equipped CAD laboratory provides a wide range of facilities. The versatility of brains combines with the flavour of new creation to evolve a quality product.
