Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE), was launched in 1960 at Chennai, to produce and market different Massey Ferguson tractors and similar farm equipment in India. Being one of the largest tractor manufacturers in India, TAFE's aims at becoming the first choice of customers in India and to make its mark in international markets.

This company has four plants involved in tractor manufacturing at Mandidheep (Bhopal), Kallidaipatti (Madurai), Doddabalbur (Bangalore) and in Chennai. They have a diverse interests in Diesel Engines, Tractors and related farm machinery, Automobile components , lubricants, panel instruments, hydraulic pumps, Engineering Tools , Storage Batteries, Paints , Engineering Plastics , Automobile franchises and Printing apart from interests in Agribusiness, book selling and publishing. The leadership technology of this Group is based on foreign method.

TAFE has a joint venture with AGCO Corporation, headquartered in Duluth, Georgia,which is amongst the largest manufacturers, designers and distributors of agricultural equipment in the world. Its products are being marketed in over 140 countries. TAFE has a chain of over 500 dealers, branches, service outlets as well as its own sales offices and depots all across India. The company is enhancing farm productivity, prosperity and profits by delivering complete farming solutions to its buyers. Besides achieving heights in the tractor market, company has spread its reach to several other fields as well.

An array of matching trailers, implements and accessories were developed by TAFE. These are marketed through TAFE's dealer network by a totally owned subsidiary, TAFE Access Limited (TAL). Through TAL, they are also involved in the marketing and distribution of lubricants and greases for tractors. TAFE also has a section for the manufacture of Hydraulic pumps and Gears for tractors. The company also produces panel instruments, not only for captive use but also to meet the demands of the growing automobile industry in India.
