TATA Engineering and Locomotive Company ), Tata motor is one of the India's
largest private sector company and commercial vehicle manufacturer
comprising a market share of 31.2% in the multi-utility vehicles segment and
6.4% in the luxury car segment. The company manufactures heavy commercial
vehicles (HCV), light commercial vehicles (LCV), passenger cars and
multi-utility vehicles.
Established in year 1945, TELCO is one of the India's premier automobile
companies which manufacture steam locomotives. Annual turnover of the
company is Rs.101.3 billion. Tata motors has been known all across the world
and it is ranked among the top ten in the manufacture of vehicles in the

base of the company are there in Jamshedpur, Pantnagar, Lucknow, Pune and
Singur.
In the year 1997-98, export calculated
was Rs. 600.78 crores. Tata Motors sales for March'06 rise 27 per cent
year-on-year. Four advanced manufacturing plants of the company are located
at Jamshedpur in Bihar, Pimpri and Chinchwad in Pune (Maharashtra) and
Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.
There occur several collaborations of Tata with many companies time to
time. Tata Cummins Ltd. is a 50:50 venture with Cummins Engine Company, USA
for the manufacture of fuel-efficient, low emission, environment-friendly
diesel engines. A joint venture with Daimler Benz/ Mercedes Benz A.G.
produces the 'E-Class' Mercedes Passenger Cars and it is also in
collaboration with Holset Engineering Company, U.K. for turbo chargers to be
used in the diesel engines manufactured by Tata Cummins Ltd. and other OEMs.
Most popular vehicles manufactured by Tata are 'Indica', Tata Safari, Tata
Estate, Tata Mobile, Tata Sierra and few trucks and buses. It is the only
Indian company which is equipped with crash testing facilities. Servicing is
not a problem and different service set up exist at every 100 kms at
national highways.
In total 450 service centers are there all across India. Along with them,
24 hour ATM (Any Time Mobile) centers in Mumbai and Ahmedabad and fully
functional Customer Training Cells in the Service Centers to help the
customers make the best use of their vehicles.
